Top 10 Things to Do in Langkawi
Langkawi is the top holiday destination for fellow Malaysians. But remember, before you plan Langkawi on your travel list, make sure you’re fully vaccinated.
Let’s check out some of the things to do in Langkawi.
1. Go to Paradise 101
Paradise 101 is Langkawi’s number one eco-friendly private day-resort island. Located near Telaga Harbour at Pantai Kok in Langkawi, Paradise 101 can be accessed via boat shuttle which gets to the island in minutes. With a name like that, you’ll be rest assured that it’s a place for you to relax and chill.
Spend the day enjoying fantastic water sports activities, or simply relaxing your body and mind while sipping some cool and refreshing drinks.
Their key attractions are the water activities; zipline, aqua park, banana boat, kayaking, jet ski and parasailing.
2. Face your Fear of Height by Taking the Langkawi Cable Car
The Langkawi Cable Car is a must-do experience when visiting Langkawi Island. It offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest, mountains, and sea. The ride takes you to the top of Mount Mat Cincang, which is the second-highest peak in Langkawi.
Once at the top, you can enjoy the breathtaking views, visit the SkyBridge, and take in the natural beauty of the area. The Cable Car is a great activity for families, couples, and solo travelers alike and is a unique way to experience the beauty of Langkawi.
3. Experience Langkawi Underwater World
The Langkawi Underwater World is a fascinating and educational attraction that allows visitors to experience the stunning marine life of the Andaman Sea. The aquarium features over 500 species of sea creatures, including sharks, stingrays, turtles, and colorful tropical fish.
The highlight of the attraction is the underwater tunnel, where you can walk through an immersive underwater environment and witness the sea creatures swimming around you. The Langkawi Underwater World is a great activity for families, couples, and solo travelers alike and is a unique way to experience the beauty of the sea without getting wet.
4. Take a stroll at Lagenda Park
If you’re into sightseeing, this one’s for you. It first opened in April 1996 for tourists and local park goers who would like to learn a bit about myths and folklores.
Did you know Langkawi has 99 islands? I didn’t either! But if you visit Lagenda Park you will learn more fun facts about Langkawi.
Admission fees for adults are priced at only RM 5. Kids are priced at RM 2.50.
5. Play with water at Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls
Waterfalls are the best thing nature can offer in my opinion. If you think about it, waterfalls are basically a theme park created by nature. You get the thrill from jumping at the top of the waterfall AND you get to play with water. It’s like adventure and water park combined!
The locals called it “land of the fairies” due to its mystical and enhancing landscape. Now it sounds magical too!
6. Experience Snorkelling at Payar Island
Baby shark doo doo doo, baby shark doo doo doo doo~
Oh sorry I got carried away there. If you snorkel at Payar Island you might get to swim side by side with baby sharks! But don’t worry, they’re harmless.
Payar Island is a must visit because getting transportation to go there is very convenient. You can take either the speed boat or catamaran. The service of catamaran is operated by Langkawi Coral. It is one of the popular companies engaged in the business of transporting tourists to favorable spots on the island.
7. Walk on Black Sand Beach
The unique thing about the sand at Black Sand Beach is obviously the colour, which is how they got their name.
This color of the sand is due to the presence of some minerals that are found in the granites of Mount Raya, which is located quite close to the beach. The streams from the mountain carry these minerals to the beach and deposit it here, giving it the iconic black color.
Meanwhile, some folks said the colour is due to a curse by a mermaid to a fisherman who stole her ring.
8. Cycle around in Langkawi
Renting a bike in Langkawi will cost about RM 50 per day. Langkawi was home to IronMan Triathlon so the area is popular with cyclists.
Gather your cycling-loving friends and explore the island together. There’s nothing more adventurous than cycling during holidays.
9. Kayaking
If you’ve never kayak before, you should totally include it in your checklist. Fortunately in Langkawi, there’s a place that is perfect for kayaking; Dayang Bunting.
The fresh water lake is perfect for a quiet afternoon to kayak along the soothing water. The calm breeze and the essence of this magnetic legendary place is an absolute must to do in Langkawi.
10. Parasailing
Parasailing can be considered the less thrill version of skydiving. But it is still fun nonetheless. Priced at RM 80, you get to experience a once-in-a-lifetime thrill.
If you’re going with a partner or friend, you can even opt to go parasailing together. Once you are high up in the air, you will feel the breeze caressing your face as you get an exotic view of Langkawi’s beautiful mountain and ocean from the island’s coastline.
11. Soak in Hot Springs
Hot springs may be popular in Japan but if you haven’t got the chance to visit Japan yet, how about trying out the hot springs right here in Malaysia?
Air Hangat, Langkawi is a beautiful village with multiple hot springs. The salt water of the springs are said to have healing properties. If you are exhausted from the many hikes and treks to Langkawi, then wash away your aches and pains in the hot water of the spring.
12. Visit Oriental Village
One of the latest attractions in Langkawi, Oriental Village has a myriad of activities for you and your family.
It is a mix of an Asian themed park that features local heritage building models. You can also catch traditional performances of jugglers, martial art and music performers as you travel deep into the village. To make things more fun, learn to fly a kite in here or get your portraits painted by the amazing artists of the village.
